Clever Hans and the Corporate Republic

As a kid I remember hearing stories of the horse that could do arithmetic. As it turns out, the horse couldn't. Clever Hans was responding to body language: "as the horse's taps approached the right answer, the questioner's posture and facial expression changed in ways that were consistent with an increase in tension, which was released when the horse made the final, 'correct' tap. This provided a cue that the horse could use to tell it to stop tapping."

While I'm actually quite disappointed by this, it does offer one unexpected benefit - I finally have real insight into how of some folks I've encountered over the years got to where they are.

Johann Carolus is throwing up in horror

Obviously due to the lack of anything meaningful or interesting happening in the real world (Celebrity X's baby bump aside, naturally) Reuters has decided to give the Second Life universe the attention it so meritoriously deserves. No doubt this is only a prelude to the 24 hour a day SNN vodcast which we all so desperately require.
